The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has launched a cross-border payments interoperability and extension (PIE) task force that includes the blockchain-based digital payment network Ripple. The PIE task force aims to enhance cross-border payments and meet the targets set by the G20, according to a recent summary of a May 11 meeting. It will also improve access to payment systems and create links between different payment systems. Ripple will work alongside Mastercard and SWIFT on the task force.
