Calamity, an upcoming 2D action RPG, has launched its final playtest, giving players the chance to compete for a share of a $4,400 prize pool.
Running from September 3 to September 13, this playtest allows Artifact holders to experience the game’s mechanics, take part in contests, and prepare for the Play to Airdrop (P2A) campaign.
The playtest marks the last opportunity for players to fine-tune their strategies before the game’s token airdrop distribution begins.
What is Calamity?
Calamity is a 2D top-down action RPG inspired by genre-defining titles like World of Warcraft and Diablo where players immerse themselves in an expansive world, engaging in both PvE and PvP modes. PvE dungeons challenge players to clear waves of increasingly tough enemies for greater rewards, whilst PvP arenas offer competitive battles, including duels and skirmishes.
The game features a unique class system that ties roles directly to the weapons players choose, allowing them to switch between Warrior, Archer, and Mage classes seamlessly.
The player-driven economy is central to the gameplay, with items being bought, sold, or traded through an Auction House. Gear is further enhanced at the Blacksmith through repairing, salvaging, or merging items, while a gem system allows additional customization of equipment.
The game also includes NFTs called Artifacts, which provide in-game advantages such as increased experience points and loot.
How to join the playtest?
To take part in the final playtest, players must first acquire an Artifact NFT from the Calamity collection available on OpenSea.
After securing an Artifact, they need to verify their ownership in Calamity’s Discord server. Once verified, players can request an access code through the support channel on Discord.
This code grants access to the game on the Epic Games Store, enabling participation in the playtest.
What’s in it for participants?
Participants in the playtest can compete for prizes in two contests, with a combined pool of $4,400 up for grabs.
The In-game Activities Contest will reward players who achieve the highest levels in the Warrior, Archer, and Mage classes. The top three players in each class will receive $200 USDT, whilst an additional $200 USDT will be awarded to the first player in each class to reach level 25.
For those interested in creating content, the Content Creation Contest encourages players to submit videos featuring gameplay highlights, guides, or speedruns. The 10 best submissions, as judged by the Calamity team, will each win $200 USDT. Content must be shared on X, with links submitted in the game’s Discord by September 16.
Following this playtest, Calamity’s play-to-airdrop campaign will commence, rewarding players for their efforts in-game.
