Renowned British artist, Damien Hirst, is back with a bang, launching his famous spin paintings as both NFTs and physical artworks. Dubbed “The Beautiful Paintings,” Hirst has incorporated a generative algorithm and machine learning to come up with his unique new technicolor designs.
To bring the project to life, Hirst has partnered with next-generation art platform HENI. Working together in order to blur the boundary between digital and physical art creation, using the latest technology to produce a series of eye-catching paintings.

Hirst isn’t new to spin art, as he began experimenting with the medium some three decades ago. Inspired by “Abstract Expressionism” and driven by the desire to devise a machine to make art, Hirst poured pigments onto canvases as they spun, which allowed “the machine to facilitate chance movements and color interactions.”
The results are beautiful masterpieces that collectors have the opportunity to design for themselves via the “The Beautiful Paintings” dashboard on HENI. Then they can “choose their own combination of colours, styles, shapes, sizes, and mediums to generate artworks and titles.” The final output will be unique and feature an element of randomness.
The Beautiful Paintings Minting is Live
There are a total of 25 different artwork styles that collectors can choose from to design their art pieces. If a collector likes what they have created, they can proceed to buy it as a physical or digital (NFT) artwork.
Minting/generating the art pieces began on March 31 and ends on April 10. The physical pieces will be printed on canvas and stretched on a frame, and they will bear the signature of Hirst. As for the price, the NFTs go for $2,000 and the physical option for $1,500 to $6,000 depending on their size.
The artist is excited by his latest project and what it could mean for the future. In a tweet, he notes, “Who knows where all this will lead but I’m so blown away by what I’ve created using all this tech to push the boundaries & create these beautiful artworks.”
Hirst is a well-respected artist who has dominated the UK art scene since the 1990s. Today, he is reportedly the richest living artist in the UK, with a net worth of over $380 million. This isn’t his first foray into the digital art space. Back in July 2021, he launched his first NFT related project, dubbed “Currency,” which aimed to explore themes of “monetary worth and value.”
