Anyone who owns NFTs has likely dealt with the fear of having them stolen one way or another. One popular collector who goes by the name ‘NFT God’ recently went through this very ordeal, suffering a wallet hack after interacting with a Google ads search result.

This incident was revealed in a January 15, 2023, Twitter thread.

Details About The Theft

Most of us tend to trust the links that come up in Google search results and consider them legitimate. This was the case with NFT God who said that he was trying to download OBS, a video streaming software.

After downloading the software from a sponsored Google link and executing the .EXE file, his computer system ended up compromised. As he explained, all his social media was hacked and malicious messages were sent out to his Substack subscribers. On top of this, all of his NFTs and crypto were stolen, leaving him devastated.

Despite this unfortunate incident, he has said that he is trying to move on from the hack.
