Hiroshima Dragonflies Announces Japan-sports NFT Marketplace

The Hiroshima Dragonflies, a professional basketball team in Japan, has announced the launch of its NFT marketplace ‘DfDunk’.

The blockchain-based platform will allow Hiroshima Dragonflies’ fans to buy, sell, and trade numbered versions of gameplay scenes, highlights, images, short movies and trading cards, etc.

Hiroshima Dragonflies Community Lead Giselle revealed: “We aim to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the community as a basketball club that everyone can enjoy together, regardless of generation, gender, or nationality. We also aim for the healthy development of young people, sports promotion, and regional revitalization.”

The Japanese basketball outfit, who currently plays in the first division’s west conference, are leveraging Web3 tools to connect more with their fans.

Moreover, the club aims to build a lasting legacy in the world of Web3, and put south east Asia on the map in terms of trading card NFTs.

Following the model established by the NBA, the Hiroshima Dragonflies seeks to replicate the success enjoyed by NBA Top Shot.

Giselle continued: “The Southeast Asian market lacks digital star card collection games and trading platform.  Bringing a great collection and entertainment experience to avid fans and fans of NFTs, while satisfying their sense of achievement in trading, is a hard demand.”

DfDunkNFT supports multi-chain, multi-wallet transactions, high performance and low handling fees, and at the same time considers the threshold problem of purchasing NFTs, by supporting payment by credit card.”

Also on the Twitter AMA, Giselle revealed that the Hiroshima Dragonflies will be launching their first batch of NFTs on the “top 2 major exchanges”.

On that note, an announcement will be made soon with more specifics about club’s first batch of NFTs.

The Hiroshima Dragonflies roadmap

The Hiroshima Dragonflies revealed their extensive plans to truly utilize Web3 technology.

Following the successful launch of their own NFTs overseas, they will switch their focus to distributing NFTs for the entire first division of the Japanese Basketball League.

Then, after securing those rights, they will launch digital coins for the league, officially tokenizing the sport in Japan.

Finally, the club plans to create a Japanese basketball DAO, organization, and mechanisms, where DAO members can participate in the co-creation and decision-making.

The power of the blockchain

Leveraging blockchain technology, the Hiroshima Dragonflies are looking to partner with foreign basketball teams and players, as well as Japanese manga IP (Initial D), games (Nintendo/PlayStation/blockchain games), live streaming, toys, and peripherals, etc.

Working with a host of partners including the United Nations, the club is going all out to make an impact on the world through sport on the blockchain.

Giselle added: “Our community is growing rapidly and we will be conducting more campaigns, events and giving rewards to our loyal members.”

From the basketball courts to the blockchain, Hiroshima Dragonflies are working tirelessly to bring the sport closer to the fans through Web3.

They’re putting Japanese basketball in the Web3 limelight for the first time and revolutionizing the team’s community connection through NFTs.
