The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued an alert regarding fraudulent websites and internet banking login screens associated with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) Limited (ICBC Asia). According to the HKMA, these fraudulent activities have been reported to the authority, prompting a public warning.

Public Advisory on Online Banking Safety

The HKMA emphasizes that legitimate banks, including ICBC Asia, will not send SMS or emails with embedded hyperlinks directing customers to conduct transactions on their websites. Furthermore, banks will not request sensitive personal information, such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords, via phone, email, or SMS, including through embedded links. This advisory aims to protect consumers from potential phishing scams and unauthorized access to their financial information.

Individuals who suspect they have provided personal information or conducted financial transactions through these fraudulent sites are advised to contact ICBC Asia using the contact details provided in the bank’s official press release. Additionally, it is recommended to report such incidents to the Hong Kong Police Force’s Crime Wing Information Centre at 2860 5012.
