LG Art Lab is collaborating with Barry X Ball, a Brooklyn-based sculptor, on a series of artworks featuring NFTs and a 24-karat gold-plated sculpture. This is according to a press release seen at the start of this month.
The initiative is part of LG Electronics’ (LG) plan to advance its art lab platform. The launch will take place on February 16, where a select few will get to preview the work through an onsite presentation at Frieze Los Angeles. Attendees can expect to see the new series of NFTs and Pope John Paul II-inspired sculptures.

That said, the NFTs will be available through LG’s Smart TV WebOS platform. They will be presented using LG’s large-screen OLED TVs ranging from 97, 83, and 77 inches to offer attendees the most immersive viewing experience.
According to Barry X Ball, this project will establish a new standard for the visual arts. “As a leader in the technology space, it has been a privilege to collaborate with LG on this body of work. My goal from the beginning of the project was to establish a new standard for the visual arts.”
Therefore, “the resultant NFTs would not be possible without LG’s flagship OLED technology, which enables me to create a fully immersive experience for art viewers, with rich, deep blacks and radiantly-intricate details.”
LG Art Lab Hosts Regular NFT Drops On Its Website
In total, there will be four variations of this series of NFTs. They will be based on four metals, gold, silver, copper, and black steel. Each NFT will morph from raw base metal into its respective shade with exceptional detail and color accuracy thanks to LG’s OLED TVs with over 8 million self-lit pixels. The process takes about 39 seconds and augments the artist’s sculptural practice, though in a digital realm.
The LG Art Lab NFTs are based on the Hedera network. They are the latest series in what has become a regular thing for the platform that hosts regular NFT drops on its website.
