McDonald’s Expands Its Blockchain Menu with Grimace NFTs

0

Building on TikTok hype surrounding Ronald McDonald’s best friend, Grimace, Singapore McDonald’s is serving up Polygon NFTs featuring its fast food icon and milkshake lover on August 21. The Asian fast food chain will debut 2,000 freebie NFTs showcasing its purple mascot in numerous styles and moods, designed by the renowned local NFT artist Bandwagon Labs and The Hidden Walls.

What sets these NFTs apart, however, is its ‘Soulbound’ nature, therefore, being non-tradeable once minted. With this step, owners can indulge in once-in-a-lifetime McDonald’s souvenirs that no one else can own. Not forgetting, all collectibles promise to open “exclusive treats in the future”.

Thanks to the advanced technology behind these digital assets, the minting process is as easy as pie. Interested consumers can mint the NFTs through MetaMask or Web3Auth — both of which require simple setups.

Tucking into McDonald’s Web3 Stance

Grimace NFTs aren’t the first time McDonald’s has chipped into blockchain-based initiatives. In 2021, McDonald’s China launched 188 NFTs to celebrate the brand’s 31st anniversary in The Middle Kingdom. Piggybacking on the success, the fast food chain similarly paid tribute to its popular McRib and Big Mac sandwiches through blockchain art shortly afterward.

After a two-year break, McDonald’s Hong Kong broadened the brand’s Web3 horizons even further, launching an Ethereum-based game in The Sandbox to celebrate Chicken McNugget’s 40th anniversary just last month.

By dishing out McDonald’s Grimace NFTs in Singapore, Macca’s presents its dedication to staying on top of innovations and consumer preferences through more digital delights.
