Moodeng’s Foster Father, Vitalik Buterin, Donates 10M THB

Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum Co-founder, has donated 10 million Thai Baht to a zoo in Thailand for the social media-famous hippo, Moodeng. Vitalik has also become the foster father of Moodeng, pledging support for Khao Kheow Zoo’s operations and the development of a dedicated enclosure for Moodeng and her family.

According to a letter from Vitalik, the donation will be made in two installments of 5 million Thai Baht each, totaling 10 million Thai Baht (approximately $292,230). The first installment will be completed on December 26, 2024, while the second, along with any additional amounts, will be announced no later than December 26, 2025.

Vitalik wrote, “I was particularly excited to hear your plans for improvements to the zoo itself, especially the proposal for upgrades to the Pygmy Hippopotamus habitat. As you know, I and the global Ethereum community have experienced the wonderful hospitality of Thailand and the Thai people over the past months.”

He expressed his joy at becoming Moodeng’s adoptive father and donating 10 million Thai Baht in her name to support the zoo.

According to CoinMarketCap, the Ethereum-based meme coin MOODENG has surpassed an $85 million market cap, currently standing at $85.47 million with a 24-hour gain of 59.5%. Meanwhile, the Solana-based MOODENG is trading at $0.2775 after a 2.8% decline. Its 24-hour trading volume has increased by over 20%, reaching $96.53 million, while its total market cap has decreased by 3.69% to $273.81 million.
