The Alpha:
- Crypto payments turned Web3 infrastructure company MoonPay has just acquired Web3 creative agency Nightshift, rounding out its suite of services for brands building into Web3, according to a press release shared with nft now.
- With this latest acquisition, MoonPay believes it will be able to provide a complete set of services to its current and future clients, offering “world-class, end-to-end support,” as mentioned by MoonPay CEO Ivan Soto-Wright in the press release.
- In light of this acquisition, the Toronto-based Nightshift is rebranding to Otherlife. Crucially, Nightshift’s existing clients will see no interruption of services, as the agency will continue to serve said clients under this new name.
Why it matters
With MoonPay’s acquisition of Nightshift, the Web3 infrastructure company has just brought one of Web3’s leading creative agencies into the fold. As Nightshift, the agency handled creatives for Web3-native clients ranging from Coinbase, Adam Bomb Squad, OpenSea, and more. Outside of Web3, the agency has also provided branding, design, and Web3 product strategy work for clients ranging from Arsenal Football Club, Shopify, Playboy, and more.
Speaking on the acquisition, MoonPay CEO Ivan Soto-Wright gave glowing praise for the recently-acquired creative agency. “With the addition of Otherlife, we can provide companies, brands, and creative agencies with world-class, end-to-end support to unlock new revenue through groundbreaking Web3-based products, experiences and ideas,” he said in the press release. “I’ve been a great admirer of everything Perrow, Moodie and the team at Otherlife have created. And I’m excited about what we’ll build together.”
Moving forward, the agency will be known as Otherlife, and is slated to serve some of the world’s biggest brands, Web3 or otherwise, as MoonPay works toward its long-standing goal of onboarding the world into Web3 through its current and future client base of brands. “Reflecting our continued focus on innovation and creativity, Otherlife’s brand is a renewal of our commitment to providing cutting-edge creative solutions and our dedication to staying at the forefront of the web3 industry,” said Otherlife Creative Director and Co-Founder Michael Moodie in a statement shared with nft now. “We will continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible while staying true to our genesis values,” he said.
What’s next
With the combined expertise of this new pairing, legacy brands considering taking the plunge into Web3 would be hard-pressed to find a company more capable of making those first steps into new territory count than MoonPay. Throughout 2022, MoonPay has massively expanded its suite of services to ensure it’s able to help make entering Web3 as easy as possible for its current and future clientele. For instance, June 2022 saw MoonPay launch HyperMint, a smart contract platform that aims to make the process of minting NFTs as easy as possible for individuals and full-scale corporations.
For Otherlife, much of the excitement following its acquisition can be traced back to MoonPay’s focus on making entering Web3 as frictionless an experience as possible. Through MoonPay’s partnership with Universal Parks and Resorts, MoonPay was able to publically demonstrate to park attendees just how easy NFTs are to interact with thanks to its seamless usage of POAP NFTs. “MoonPay’s wallets, smart contracts, on-ramps, and growing infrastructure provide endless support for our growing roster of clients,” said Otherlife CEO and Co-Founder Michael Perrow in a statement shared with nft now. “We look forward to extending our bespoke offerings and providing true end-to-end solutions for AAA brands.”
But wait, there’s more:
