Prominent Lawyer Say XRP is a Powerful Payment Options

  • XRP holder’s lawyer, John Deaton is eulogizing the coin for its growing utility and adoption.
  • XRP’s role in powering TapJets 24/7 remains a highlight of current conversations.

CryptoLaw founder and pro-XRP lawyer John E. Deaton recently endorsed XRP as one of the most powerful cryptocurrencies used as a payment option. Deaton tagged the Ripple-owned token as the choice crypto for payments. To further buttress his claim, he cited TapJets’ utilization of the XRP token for payment. Markedly, TapJets is an on-demand private jet booking platform.

He outlined the process of booking one of TapJets’ flights, explaining that payments for a pilot, flight attendant, airport fee, and fuel have to be made upfront. However, in the case where it is a weekend when banks are closed and there is no possibility of conducting a wire transfer, solutions like XRP are designed to save the day, per the illustration offered by Deaton who has been a vocal XRP supporter in the three-year-long Ripple-SEC case.

“TapJets accepts XRP as a form of payment. In 3-5 seconds, you’ve paid for the costs upfront and your jet is on standby,” Deaton added.

On its part, TapJets has shown its support for Ripple and XRP, especially in the face of its legal battle with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. Last year, the jet flight service provider filed an “amicus curiae” brief after its request was granted by the presiding Judge, to support Ripple’s defense argument. In the brief, TapJets emphasized on how XRP helps tackle real-life problems citing the utilization of the token for payment of its services.

TapJets claimed that the XRP payment option is more effective for the company than traditional bank transfers. Deaton believes that TapJets made a significant effort to prove to the court that XRP is not security, contrary to what has always been propagated by the SEC.

It is worth noting that the news that luxury car dealer Ferrari now accepts XRP and two other digital assets, prompted these latest comments from Deaton.

XRP Payment Usage and Adoption Spreads

Beyond TapJets’ adoption of XRP as a payment alternative, Ripple and XRP adoption across several industries is fast becoming a trend, especially after Judge Analisa Torres declared in a July 13th ruling that XRP is not security. A few months ago, crypto payment firm BitPay highlighted some of the numerous stores and merchants that are open-minded towards the use of XRP as a payment alternative.

From BitPay’s list, it was discovered that there are at least 28 XRP-friendly stores where investors can spend their XRP in exchange for goods and services around the world. These merchants include AMC Theatres, Gamesplanet, Prepaid Gamer Online, Auragentum GmbH, American Precious Metals Exchange (APMEX), and British firm Sharps Pixley.

Also, Ripple is in partnership with governments and central banks that intend to leverage XRP’s cross-border capability as well as its speed and cost to improve transactions in their region.
