South Korea’s financial regulator, Governor Lee Bok-hyeon, is set to meet with U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Gary Gensler in Washington, D.C., next month to discuss crypto regulations. The visit will mark the first meeting between the two, as they aim to strengthen cooperation before South Korea’s new crypto laws go into effect next year. The legislation, which aims to beef up consumer protections for crypto investors, will be implemented in July 2024.
