Because they are so new, metaverses and those who run them are constantly on the lookout for how to improve the experience and remove roadblocks. In this vein, top metaverse platform The Sandbox has announced its new bug bounty program.
This program encourages its users to find existing flaws in its system and report them in exchange for payment.
“Report bugs in our blockchain ecosystem. Earn up to US$200,000 in $SAND Secure the #metaverse! Join our Bug Bounty program – with @immunefi,” the official Sandbox Twitter page said.
This new development means that The Sandbox metaverse users will be able to improve the ecosystem even as they use it. According to the official post, the level of rewards is based on the Immunefi Vulnerability Severity Classification System V2.2, a 5-level scale that determines the severity of each vulnerability. Furthermore, all reported vulnerabilities need to come with a PoC with an end-effect impacting an asset-in-scope before any reward will be given.
The post also explains that the rewards for critical smart contract vulnerabilities are capped at 10% of economic damage. Finally, The Sandbox will also impose a minimum reward of $50,000 and a maximum reward of $200,000 for critical smart contract bug reports.
As more of these bugs are found and reported, they will be addressed for the betterment of the community.
